I really had fun writing the “Ask the Data Scientist” series over at insideBIGDATA. The weekly Q & A series ran from October 1, 2014 through the end of the year for a total of 12 articles. Each week there was a compelling question asked by one of our readers, and I provided a detailed answer. Intel is the sponsor for this feature. To find the articles just visit insideBIGDATA.com, and select “Ask a Data Scientist” from the Special Sections menu. Please enjoy and learn!

I’m pleased to report that I was asked to moderate an upcoming Apache Spark panel discussion organized by the Los Angeles Apache Spark User Group. The event is hosted by Cross Campus in Santa Monica, a collaborative work environment that’s home to over 100 start-up tech companies. The event will be a rare opportunity to see a number of leading vendors on one panel, hear from their experts, and get their insight on best practices, real use cases, and solutions around Spark implementation. Scheduled for participation are: Cloudera, MapR, and Pivotal. I’m really looking forward to this evening event.
UPDATE! 10/3/2014 – The Spark panel event went off without a hitch. Here are the happy participants:
I happily accepted an invitation by Tableau Software to be their guest at their annual customer conference in Seattle, Sept. 8-11. I’ll be covering the show for insideBIGDATA. I’m really looking forward to attending the big event because: Seattle is in one of my favorite towns, Tableau is a wonderful data-centric tool, and because one of the keynote speakers is astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson.
